Bobby Hawkey
Coach Bobby Hawkey has spent his whole life growing up in Football....His dad, Bob Hawkey Sr. started the Green Hornets Football organization in 1950 and built an elite football program that has been going strong for almost 75 years. Bobby grew up on the football sidelines and started as a mascot for his dad's team at 5 years old and then started playing for the Hornets at the age 8. At 13 years old he was finally able to play for his dad's team. Bobby played two years for the Varsity team. His first season the team went on to win the Long Island Championship. Coach Hawkey has coached on the Varsity staff for numerous seasons. He is currently the Executive Director of the Green Hornets Football & the USA Football Player Safety Coach.
Bobby took over as the Varsity Head Coach in 2010 after his dad passed away in December of 2009. His father, Bob Hawkey Sr. was the Varsity Head Coach from 1950 to 2009 (59 years) and still holds the title for most wins, with over 500. The home field in Valley Stream where the Hornets played since 1950 was renamed in honor of his father. The field is now called, "Bob Hawkey Football Field".
Coach Bobby Hawkey has always been known as one of the best offensive coordinators in football on Long Island, NY. This has helped him win numerous championships and also get noticed by his peers to help them coach their teams.
Coach Bobby was picked to be the offensive coach on the Long Island 495 Elite Team, which is an All- Star team of High School players from Nassau and Suffolk Counties that traveled throughout the East Coast showcasing Long Island talent.
In 2016 Coach Hawkey was picked by FBU (Football University) to coach the All-Long Island Team as their Offensive Coordinator. That team traveled to Rhode Island to compete in several games.
Coach Bobby Hawkey has also coached at the High School & Semi Pro Levels. His favorite teams to coach will always be the Green Hornets Varsity teams. He was able to teach and prepare his players at this level to get ready for their High School & College sports careers.
He has been the sports administrator for the organization for over 30 seasons.
Bobby has been a fixture in his local community and an advocate on youth sports his entire life. He has served on local community boards, set up many committees for youth sports development, and advised many local youth sports organizations boards. Bobby has impacted the lives of countless young people in the community. His favorite saying was always,
"A Good Coach Can Change a Game, But A Great Coach Can Change a Life."
Coach Bobby is also an actor who has appeared in numerous Films and TV shows. He has been a technical advisor on films for actors who want to play a football coach. (www.BobbyHawkey.com)
He is currently living in Los Angeles, CA. and looking forward to coaching football again!
Bobby is also a Certified AED/CPR & Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor.

The Green Hornets Varsity Team wins the 2017 AAU New York Metro
Football Championship at Mitchell Field on December 2nd.
They played the Hudson County Dolphins from Jersey City, NJ.
This is Coach Hawkey's 3rd straight Championship and he has been undefeated for the past three seasons.

Valley Stream Republican Club Honors Coach Bobby Hawkey
Bobby Hawkey was the 2014 Honoree at this year's St. Patrick's Day Party. He was nominated by the Valley Stream Republican Club and recognized as an outstanding individual who renders significant contributions to the betterment of the community.
He received a citation by Mayor Ed Fare of Valley Stream in recognition and appreciation for the dedication he demonstrates on behalf of the Valley Stream youth.
He also received a citation from the Hon. Brian Curran, New York State Assemblyman. He was recognized as a person who exemplifies dedication, commitment and loyalty to the community of Valley Stream.
